"When meditation is mastered, the mind is unwavering like the flame of a lamp in a windless place. In the still mind, in the depths of meditation, the Self reveals itself. Beholding the Self by means of the Self, an aspirant knows the joy and peace of complete fulfillment." Bhagavad Gita 6.19-20
"like the flame of a lamp in a windless place." Alive & still.
I've been chewing on this one since the start of the day. I shared it at the end of today's slow-flow class at my home studio. I just shared it with a friend who was looking for a shift in perspective on some situations where he has been experiencing big emotions.
I'll spare you the long drawn-out details of my inner thoughts as I process all of the ways I can apply this to my life and drop these 3 gems:
- The more I practice meditation with patience and repeated effort, the more Self will reveal itself to "me" (mind + ego).
- Connection to Self reveals more joy, more peace, and complete fulfillment.
- I must protect my flame from the winds; set boundaries on my mind using my willpower.
Which of these gems can you spend some more time with? 💎
