🧠 the mindset shift you need to make
There’s a big mindset shift that has to happen after you lose weight on GLP-1s, and not enough people talk about it.
You can lose the weight… but still think like the old version of you.
Still speak to yourself like the woman who didn’t trust herself.
Still expect to fail.
Still assume the weight will come back.
Still go into self-sabotage mode the second things feel a little off.
That’s the sneaky part.
Because if you keep carrying around the habits, beliefs, and inner dialogue of your ā€œheavier self,ā€ you can slowly start pulling yourself back into old patterns without even realizing it.
Getting used to your new body is one thing.
Getting used to your new identity is another.
This is where the real work comes in.
You have to start practicing being her now.
The version of you who takes care of herself.
The version of you who follows through.
The version of you who doesn’t spiral over one off day.
The version of you who knows how to live at this weight, protect this weight, and support this body.
That means paying attention to how you talk to yourself every day.
Are you still saying:
ā€œI always gain it back.ā€
ā€œI’m bad at being consistent.ā€
ā€œI can’t trust myself around food.ā€
ā€œI’ll probably end up back where I started.ā€
Because those thoughts are not harmless little background noise.
They shape your choices.
Your future self needs a different voice.
She says:
ā€œI know how to take care of myself now.ā€
ā€œI don’t have to go back.ā€
ā€œI can make adjustments without giving up.ā€
ā€œI am not that old version of me anymore.ā€
And no, this doesn’t happen overnight. Identity work is not some magical fairy dust situation. It takes daily practice. Awareness. Repetition. Catching yourself when old thoughts pop up and choosing differently on purpose.
This next chapter is about more than losing weight.
It’s about becoming the woman who knows how to keep showing up for herself.
Step into your future self now.
Speak like her.
Make decisions like her.
Take care of yourself like her.
Because the more you practice being her, the more natural it becomes. So practice your future self talk everyday!
And that is how real transformation sticks.
