Do I need SEO for website selling?

So I’ve began my journey in website building for companies, and one thing I’m learning about right now is Search Engine Optimisation, however, do I actually need to know it to begin selling websites generated by AI and tailored to the company by me?

My main concern is, if I don’t do SEO and I just create and host the website, will any traffic be driven towards it, therefore benefitting the company? Because I don’t want to sell a a website for the sake of making money I want to actually provide value to local businesses.

In other words, could I just outsource the SEO part?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
