Are you motivated by carrot or stick? Knowing if you are a towards or away from motivation really helps (and it can change for different circumstances so pay attention and if one isn’t working, try the other). For those who said yesterday they wanted more focus, no distractions, would you be more motivated if you had something to look forward to at the end of the week, or would you be more motivated thinking of the consequences of being distracted? First one, get a treat lined up. Second, write it down somewhere visible.

Negative thoughts are a habit. And as such, so are positive thoughts. The more you practice one, the less the other grows. Which would you rather invest your energy in? Every time you hear a negative thought that does not support the life you want say, “thanks for sharing”, and move on. There are many other techniques, find the one that works for you.

What brings you joy? It can be a hard question for some to answer because they’ve forgotten what joy really is. It can be the small things. Birds, flowers, light nights, a cup of tea with a friend. Think of the things you find joyful and smile. You will find your spirits automatically lift.

Fear can feel like wisdom. This was something that came out of a session we did at Ryan Hudson’s membership yesterday and it struck me how true it is. When we are afraid we can find every logical backup for why we shouldn’t do the thing. Then we call it wisdom. Check in on yourself. Because true wisdom is recognising the fear and also recognising the excuses.
