Q&A Featuring Anana Gray is happening in 23 days
Accountability post week 1
Should we keep track of each other? Like report on Mondays in a post? I need this level of check up. 😅
I guess I better get serious!
6.7k... but I had a huge head start. Only averaging a couple hundred words a day.
Good thing July has 31 days . . .
Because I did NOT start my 30k in 30 days yesterday like I originally planned 😅 However, I just did 1,014 words tonight, so I'm on track to finish 30k by the end of July. Is it going to be a cohesive novel? Absolutely not. I'm still kind of finding my voice for this story, which is one that's been bouncing around in my head (and occasionally bleeding onto a page) for the last few years. So my goal isn't necessarily to have a 30k novella at the end of July, but to have written 30k of story-related words. Bonus points if a portion of those words end up being usable in a future draft 😂 I watched Erin Stewart's "Surviving the First Draft" video today from the 30k class before writing, and if you haven't yet I highly recommend! She does a great job breaking down the main plot parts of a first draft (or any draft, really). I feel much less pressure to produce a cohesive narrative and more free to just write and see what happens. Good luck, fellow 30k folks 🫡
A little behind, but catching up today
I have 2100 words as of today. I have some catching up to do, but I'm feeling good I will be caught up by tomorrow. Time for some celebratory fireworks!
30K in July... Starting Now!
Ok, @Zachary West @Eric Anderson @Angela Griffin @Jacob Oberle (and anyone else who wants to join!), you took up the gauntlet that was thrown down a few weeks ago... and now the time has come to act on the challenge 😅 So. This is my official, public, commitment. I am almost halfway through my initial story-level edit, and I have 52 scenes left. By the end of July, I am committing to having revised all 52 of those scenes as necessary, and be at least 8 scenes into my scene-level edit. That adds up to about two scenes per day. 60 scenes in 30 days. I'll stay accountable weekly here in the community, consistent with the rules of the 30K in 30 Days challenge, and I hope y'all keep me accountable!!! Excited to be writing with you through the summer chaos!
