The Lady Next Door
Last night I had witnessed one of the most terrible things I’ve personally seen. Last night police had flown down our street to the house next door at the end of the court. The lady next door, had some problems going on. She was backed into a corner.
A woman who was struggling within the walls of her own house, had taken her life. I will leave out the details but I wanted to share something because this lady was a kind, fun, loving and a caring person. My brother was over there earlier that day collecting some tables she had let us borrow for his grad party. She offered to make her famous cake pops while he was bringing out the tables. Everything seemed normal, no signs or symptoms of the tragedy that we would all witness just hours later.
She and her husband were going though problems, fighting about a divorce and over what things they get to take etc. There is more to that but she was under a huge influence of alcohol and had shot herself. She had options and people around her to help, but it seemed she didn’t want the help. I guess her son who was struggling with an addiction was starting to go down hill. He needed her. The lady next door was struggling, and needed us, and we had no idea.
I share this with you because people are going through things you will never know about. You need to be kind and be loving. Be there for your family, friends, neighbors and even people you might not know.
I couldn’t sleep last night. I was in thought thinking about the “what I could’ve done” and “we would’ve done” type of things. We knew about some of her problems, but never knew it was this bad. If you have any thought of suicide, think about the people you leave behind. I am angry with the lady next door. Her son, husband, grandchild, and her friends are suffering. All because she thought she had no way out. But really, we all loved her and would’ve been there.
This is a really long story and definitely more I could say. I just ask everyone to sit and think about the people worth living for. Think about what you can do to help others and make the world a better place. And of course remember, someone loves you and you are never truly alone.
