I wanted to share a small milestone and what I learned through gentle free copy outreach, for all of us nonfiction authors navigating self-publishing and book marketing. My nonfiction Kindle book Fueling the Night Shift just received its second Amazon review, written by a kind, thoughtful member right here in this community. Here’s my outreach process: I connected privately with Skool members whose real-life experience aligned with my book’s topic. I offered a free copy, with zero pressure attached. I only asked for an honest Amazon review if the book genuinely resonated with them. No generic mass messages, no pushy sales language. This exchange turned into a wonderful conversation. She opened up about her long caregiving journey, and shared that she is also working on her own nonfiction book about her family’s hospital struggles.
