Tai Ji ruler hand position

Hi all, after my daily qigong I did the Tai Ji stick drill and the one that is included in the bonus material. Really fun to practice and it gives a totally different feel in my practice.

what I was wondering especially in the video in the bonus material stays the position of the hands the same? The one where you have the stick between your hand palms and the other where you lay/grip the stick in your hands. With the latter do you move your hand around the stick during the movements or do your hands stay at their original position? Please enlighten me 😄
