The Power of Aligned Outreach
I wrote about this in response to another Ronin's post on setting up coffee dates, but I wanted to share it here as well.
Listening to all mindset work around finding partnerships has really shifted how I go about doing outreach. It's no longer a numbers game - it's a quality game.
So here's what I've been doing.
  • I look for people who inspire the f* out of me and then I insightfully interact with their content. Sometimes this gets them to reach out to me, which is awesome.
  • After a little while I'll reach out to their DMs sharing what I like about their content, how it's impacted me, what I'm learning. This starts a conversation.
  • The goal is not to sell them on anything, but to increase the value of my network. These people may be great referral partners - people who have the ears and eyes of a group of ideal prospects. These people may be people who I can refer clients to to get a commission. They may be people with assets that are valuable.
  • If it makes sense I'll propose something or share the possibility of partnering with me, but since I only want to partner with A++ business owners it doesn't make sense to propose it all the time.
I'd rather have a bonafide connection with one person who has access to a group of my ideal partners, who will pre-qualify and send them to me than 100 "prospects" that I try to rush to a coffee date.
It's still early days of doing this, and I'm still figuring out all the pieces but so far the results have been good... BEST of all, it FEELS way better!
