Is this a good idea? (Newsletter Acquisition or Sponsorship Deal)
Had a great kickoff call with @Travis Sago today on how to leverage my skills the Ronin way. And a little after the call, I remembered a job post from Steven Alexander Young (Daniel Throssell's mentor, I believe?) Anyway, it was for a newsletter writer for his 'Ad Catalyst' Substack newsletter. Hopped onto their trial, and it's a newsletter that puts a spotlight on ads that they like and think "work", why and short commentary on how the audience could emulate the formula, all in about 100–200 words. But the thing is...he's looking to sell. I'll add a copy of the job doc (with the most important bits highlighted), but here's the rundown: 1. It has 12,000+ subscribers 2. It would be the perfect list for an agency looking to sell their services 3. Prime real estate for sponsorship deals + good database for companies that sponsored newsletters in the past (with 10,000 leads with names + contact info) 4. He's looking to get it off his hands as quickly as he can I, personally, don't want to buy it (and couldn't right now anyway). BUT I was wondering if I should reach out and offer my services as a liaison of sorts (?) to get him buyer leads (and get a cut if he actually does sell it). Since I'm still a little new here (and haven't really done much research on the lead yet)... Does this sound like a good idea so far? Is too advanced for a beginner? Would anyone be interested in buying/paying for a sponsorship/know someone who would be interested? Wanna hear your thoughts before I make the next step (reach out).
