It is a wonderful feeling to see your children succeed in their ambitions. I have written before about my eldest boy entering a welding program in the fall. I am very proud and happy he has found something he is passionate about.
Yesterday, my youngest, only 16, completed his first solo flight. He has been taking lessons for over a year now and has over 45 hours in the air. Yesterday, I watched him take off and land twice, solo, in a narrow, short field runway (42b).
To put into perspective, he is currently taking drivers Ed and has been behind the wheel of a car about 5 times.
Yesterday, his shirt was cut off (a long standing tradition when a pilot completes their first solo) and I couldn’t be more proud
He sits for his FAA written exam in about 2 weeks.
