Poll: Is Made to Measure better than Tailoring Off the Rack?
I’m starting to plan my next few suits (hopefully soon), and I’m stuck on a decision.
Do I stick with what I know and love, like another couple of Canali Kei suits (currently have 1), or explore a lower-cost Made to Measure brand? The price difference will be negligible, but I’m wondering about the quality difference.
Some context:
  1. I only buy fully canvassed
  2. No artificial fabrics, only natural fibers
  3. I prefer soft tailoring and unstructured or lightly structured styles, like the Kei
  4. Fit and comfort matter a lot to me
  5. I only buy jackets with functional buttons.
Yes, I’m picky and I’m good with that.
Also, do you have any brands you would recommend in the $1,000 to $2,500 range? That is my range at the moment. Although Kei, I can buy and get tailored for anywhere in that range.
I’d love to hear what’s worked for others who value fabric, construction, and a soft tailoring aesthetic.
So I’m putting it to the community. Which do you prefer (and why)?
Made to Measure (MTM)
Off the Rack + Tailoring
Depends on the brand, fabric, or fit; I buy both
I just wear hoodies
