OOTD-CW - 4 June 2026
Today's agenda is centered around my presentation to our staff the "cap deck" we recently finished. Consulting companies are often asked to come to potential clients and present on their capabilities. Thus, the cap (capabilities) deck is a critical tool. It needs to do more that share what you can do (which, in research/science fields, is quite critical), it's how you present it. The quality of the slide deck is important, but so it what you say and what you emphasize.
Given the combination of having recently and thoroughly overhauled the capabilities deck, most of my staff have limited experience on the business development tasks. Our head of business development, who has 30 years of such experience, is new to P3. Therefore, I am working to help everyone how best to present our capabilities to our clients and potential clients.
I intentionally dressed in a more relaxed manner (for me) so as to soften the "boss's" presence and engender conversation and questions.
Here's what I have:
• Shirt — DS-046 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A CT slim-fit Non-Iron Twill dress shirt featuring a bold mid-blue and white large check pattern with navy accents. The 2-ply cotton twill has medium-to-high opacity and soft hand, with 2-linear cuff buttons on a barrel cuff and a classic point collar. Tuesday Rules pick at 0% cost reduction—never worn before. (I used the Tuesday rules of minimal use for 1+ item since I could not yse them on Tuesday).
• Undershirt — US-003 (Pro Club): A heavy-weight white cotton crew neck undershirt that provides solid coverage under the check pattern. XL sizing with medium-to-heavy drape ensures no show-through on this medium-opacity dress shirt.
• Vest — VWC-008 (Hisdern): A striking light maroon (red) windowpane business vest in wool blend with green and mustard brown accent checks. Single-breasted with 5 red buttons, silver two-sided rear buckle, and slot hip pockets and a chest pocket. Roomy but elegant fit—adds a colorful statement layer.
• Slacks — SL-006 (JW Nordstrom): Dark brown wool slacks with a slight sheen and regular cuffs. Low rise with no pleats, belt loops, and a medium drape that sits beautifully. Business classic formality with excellent comfort and mobility—a foundational earth-tone anchor.
• Tie — NT-001 (King & Priory): A 2.75" thin herringbone tweed tie in brown with blue and burgundy accents. 2-fold construction, 59" length, untipped with a keeper loop and triangle blade. The tweed texture pairs perfectly with the vest and creates a sophisticated interplay of patterns.
• Belt — B-011 (Hanks): The Esquire Raised belt in Havana brown leather with white edge stitching and a removable silver buckle. Perfectly aligned with the chocolate brown shoes—clean, structured, and versatile.
• Chelsea Boots — DSh-010 (Cobbler Union): The Benjamin on the Ritz last in dark brown suede with Goodyear welt construction—a Spanish-crafted dress boot featuring a sleek almond toe and naked vamp that delivers elegant versatility. The premium suede upper transitions seamlessly from tailored slacks to smart casual looks, making these a cornerstone piece for refined weekend-to-office wear.
• Socks — DSo-073 (Fort Belvedere): Over-the-calf ribbed cotton dress socks in brown with bright blue shadow stripes. Hand-linked toes, large size, perfect fit and all-day comfort. The blue accents subtly tie back to the shirt and tie without competing.
• Pocket Square — PS-021 (The Dark Knot): A cream silk square with rust-colored edge, featuring paisleys and flowers in yellow, orange, blue, purple, and pink. 16" size—folded in a Casual Puff Fold to showcase the cream center with rust border peeking out. The rust edge ties beautifully to the maroon vest and brown accessories.
• Tie Bar — TA-003 (Unnamed): A gold tie bar with horizontal line pattern and clamp back. Positioned at roughly 70% up from the tie's bottom—keeps the thin tweed tie secured while adding a touch of warm metal that coordinates with the gold cufflinks.
• Watch (Left) — W-006 (Fossil Townsman): An automatic skeleton watch with blue/skeleton dial, 44mm polished stainless steel case, and mid-brown genuine leather band. Miyota 82S5 movement visible through the open heart. A dress-casual timepiece perfect for VC days—the blue dial echoes the shirt's blue tones.
• Watch (Ankle) — W-001 (Apple Watch 10): Titanium slate Apple Watch for VC day functionality—worn on the ankle for health data collection.
• Business Card Carrier — BCC-002 (Fort Belvedere): Brown bison leather bifold with quilted tan interior and silver clasp. The brown leather perfectly matches the belt and shoes—a cohesive accessory for partner meetings.
• Fragrance — FR-003 (Roberto Ugolini Oxford): An Extrait concentration woody aromatic fougère with citrus, lavender, aromatic herbs, and woods with subtle leather. All-season appropriate with moderate strength (6-8 hours). The timeless, classic gentleman fragrance—refined and professional without flash. Perfect for internal team calls and partner meetings.
• Ring — R-001: Platinum and diamond wedding ring—always present.
🎨 Color Story: Earth Tones with Bold Red Statement
The outfit builds from a foundation of dark brown slacks, chocolate brown shoes, and Havana brown belt. The light maroon vest serves as the bold centerpiece, picking up the burgundy notes in the tweed tie. The mid-blue check shirt introduces cool contrast while the cream and rust pocket square bridges warm and cool tones. Gold accessories (cufflinks, tie bar) create metal harmony throughout.
✅ Tuesday Rules Compliance:
  • DS-046 (Shirt): 0% cost reduction — First wear ever!
  • NT-001 (Tie): Low reduction — Rarely worn
