Manic Monday! Three meetings with a returning client brining us a big new project. Several people have changed so I need to navigate and solidify new relationships, which I enjoy doing. The two key players are people I have worked with for 4 years and the other for 20 years.
I have been convinced to start journaling, especially regarding my daily to do list and overall business goals. My regular pen is 90% for signatures - a Montblanc 149. Its overkill for journaling so I got a Pilot Metropolitan. When I went to put the ink in yesterday, it shot out of the cartridge and all over the table (amazingly, all on papers I could discard). New parts are on the way but the journaling has commenced. If anyone else has been doing this, please do share any tips/suggestions.
Outfit of the Day — Monday April 27, 2026 | In-Person Client Meetings |Weather, 41°F → 68°F
• Suit — SJ-008, SL-017 (Bachrach): A dark-brown double-breasted herringbone suit in heavyweight virgin wool, fully lined and tailored in Q4-2025 for a clean, modern silhouette. The texture and weight carry beautifully through a 41°F San Jose morning into a 68°F afternoon. Pure business-formal authority — exactly right for in-person client meetings while reading warm and approachable rather than cold.
• Shirt — DS-029 (Paul Fredrick): A white houndstooth-patterned French-cuff dress shirt with a ~4″ point collar and ~2.75″ collar stays. The subtle woven pattern adds quiet visual texture without competing with the herringbone suit. French cuffs elevate the look for client work and create the canvas for proper cufflinks.
• Undershirt — US-008 (Pro Club): Tan heavy-cotton crew that reads invisibly under the white shirt while reinforcing the day's earth-tones color story. Heavy enough to keep the dress shirt smooth and sweat-free through a long meeting day.
• Tie — NT-028 (Fort Belvedere): A two-tone brown silk knit tie in crunchy Swiss Cri de la Soie mottled silk, two-sided construction with a square blade and a 2.5-inch widest width. The matte, slightly textured hand of knit silk plays beautifully against herringbone tweed — same earth-tones family, completely different surface. Tied in a Four-in-Hand to keep the knot compact and let the square end hang cleanly.
• Pocket Square — PS-008 (King & Priory): Saddle-brown silk herringbone — a textural echo of the suit weave in a complementary, never-matching tone. Folded in a Two-Point (Crown) fold for a touch more visual interest than a TV fold while remaining strictly business-formal.
• Suspenders — SB-003 (JJ Suspenders): Navy baby-skinny cotton-elastic suspenders, 0.75 inch wide, Y-back, with mid-brown leather button loops and gold-tone metal hardware. Worn in lieu of a belt — cleaner waistline under the double-breasted jacket and a proper foundation for trousers that should never sag. Hidden almost entirely beneath the DB jacket but a meaningful detail of dress.
• Footwear — DSh-011 (Handsewn Co.): Dark-brown horsebit loafers with Goodyear-welt construction, made in the USA. Last polished ~13 days ago — well within the one-month threshold for client work. Slip-on dignity that ties directly to the suit's primary color.
• Socks — DSo-072 (Il Regalo): Over-the-calf cotton socks in navy with a medium-brown reversible stripe in blue and amber. Required OTC length for in-person meetings, with brown notes that echo the suit and shoes and a navy ground that subtly nods to the navy suspenders hidden underneath.
• Cufflinks — CL-024: Single-sided silver square cufflinks with a mounted opaque pearl on top, high-shine finish on a T-bar mechanism. Pearl-on-silver is the more traditional, refined cufflink choice — a quiet upgrade for a client day and a clean match to the all-silver visible metals across the watch and collar clip.
• Collar Clip — TA-001 (Fort Belvedere): Double-sided platinum-tone collar clip in solid brass with high-tension coils. Lifts the point collar and pushes the tie knot forward for a sharper line — a small detail that signals real attention to dress on a client day.
• Watch — W-007 (Stuhrling): A silver-toned dress watch worn solo on the left wrist; the Apple Watch is omitted per in-person client protocol. Keeps the metals story tight and the wrist line classical and uncluttered.
• Pen — P-002 (Montblanc): The Meisterstuck 169 fountain pen with BB nib. A leadership-grade writing instrument that earns its place in the jacket's inner pocket for client notes and signatures.
• Business Card Case — BCC-002 (Fort Belvedere): A bifold-clasp bison-leather card case in brown with tan and silver accents, 4.25 by 3 inches. Soft patina, quietly luxurious, and now coordinated to the brown earth-tones palette running through the suit, loafers, and pocket square.
• Fragrance — FR-003 (Roberto Ugolini): Oxford Extrait — a refined, slightly leather-warm fragrance that pairs naturally with brown wool tweed. Office-safe, present without being loud, and absolutely client-appropriate.
