Sitting at LAX awaiting my fight to San Francisco. Typical commentary on the dress of passengers is in place but I will look for further signs of green shoots!
(Cuffs are sticking way out given the seated position)
• Suit — SJ-010, SL-019 (Ralph Lauren): A light brown Ralph Lauren Lauren Green Label suit in wool basket weave, with subtle dark brown and cream secondary tones. The jacket features rope & lightly padded shoulders, single vent, notched lapels, and beautiful mother of pearl buttons—85% lined with a business casual formality that reads approachable rather than stuffy. Perfect for a client who prefers understated elegance over formal rigidity.
• Shirt — DS-043 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A sky blue non-iron herringbone dress shirt with a spread collar and French cuffs. High opacity cotton with excellent stitch density and a slim cut—the mid-blue undertones harmonize beautifully with the warm browns of the suit while the French cuffs accommodate statement cufflinks for my bespoke fitting.
• Undershirt — US-007 (Pro Club): A chocolate-colored heavy cotton crew neck undershirt. Won't show through the high-opacity herringbone and coordinates with the brown suit palette—invisible but purposeful.
• Tie — NT-032 (Fort Belvedere): A mélange silk knit tie from Fort Belvedere in brown with blue, red, green, and cream undertones. The thick, square-ended knit construction adds texture without overwhelming the herringbone shirt, while the earthy color story ties (pun intended) the whole ensemble together. Business casual formality that speaks sophistication.
• Pocket Square — PS-004 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A light blue medallion pocket square in silk & wool with navy, brown, and white accents. The blue echoes the shirt while the brown coordinates with the suit—presented in a puff fold to keep the ensemble relaxed and approachable.
• Belt — B-001 (Hanks): A black Hanks Highlined leather belt with silver buckle, top/bottom stitching, and pill-shaped holes. Fully lined for durability and structure—coordinating with the black shoes and watch strap for a unified leather story.
• Footwear — DSh-009 (TLB Mallorca): Black box-calf whole-cut Oxfords from TLB Mallorca, Goodyear welted in Spain with brass tacks in the heel and almond toe shape. A flex at the Carmina store—wearing the competition's finest craftsmanship - to my Michael Andrews fitting.
• Socks — DSo-063 (Fort Belvedere): Over-the-calf cotton dress socks in mid-brown with a blue shadow stripe. The brown grounds the outfit while the blue stripe picks up the shirt and tie accents—perfect for an in-person client meeting where no ankle should ever be seen.
• Cufflinks — CL-009 (Fort Belvedere): Eagle claw and onyx ball cufflinks in sterling silver and black—double-sided for visual balance. These substantial cufflinks serve dual duty: elevated accessory for the client meeting and measurement reference for my bespoke fitting at MAB.
• Watch (Left) — W-007 (Stührling): A 44mm Stührling Skeletal automatic in polished stainless steel with a black leather strap. My largest watch, selected specifically for Michael Andrews to measure suit and shirt sleeves properly—the skeleton dial and engraved scrollwork make it a conversation piece.
• Watch (Right) — W-001 (Apple): Apple Watch 10 in brushed titanium on the right wrist. The daily driver for notifications and health tracking—practical companion to the statement piece on the left.
• Pen — P-002 (Montblanc): The Montblanc Meisterstück 149 fountain pen in black precious resin with platinum trim. A flagship writing instrument that signals precision and seriousness—filled with royal blue ink for the day's notes and signatures.
• Business Card Case — BCC-002 (Fort Belvedere): A brown bison leather bifold card carrier with quilted leather interior and silver clasp hardware. The brown leather coordinates with the suit while the silver hardware matches the watch case and cufflinks.
• Leather Carry — CRY-002 (Carl Friedrik): The Palissy Double Heritage briefcase in Italian vachetta leather (chocolate brown). Structured, vegetable-tanned, with silver hardware and multiple compartments—professional presence for client meetings.
• Gloves — GL-001 (Fort Belvedere): Midnight blue lamb nappa leather gloves with cashmere lining and touchscreen capability. Ready for the cool morning commute with a button clasp and gray threading accents.
• Fragrance — FR-004 (Roberto Ugolini Derby): An aromatic green woody extrait with herbal notes, green facets, and light spices. Moderate strength with 6-8 hour longevity—herbaceous and understated, perfect for a client meeting where presence matters but never overpowers.
• Ring — R-001: Wedding ring. Always.
