Seeing the family off for their final trip of the summer. When they return next week, Logan heads to his dorms and Nathanial begins 8th grade. Montblanc agreed to exchange my 149 and I took care of that today. The senior associate in the store wrote with my old 149 and was appalled at the way the nib performed, immediately seeing the problems.
On the work front, I'm looking forward to having a weekend of catch up on our current crazy project, beginning with a meeting this afternoon to plan out next week. I find the Friday planning meetings let me begin Monday with a bang right away: everyone knows their immediate assignment when they arrive on Monday and can get moving.
I have not worn a pin collar in a while and find that my ability to fasten them up has dramatically sped up! The entire pin took less than 60 seconds. It might be a bit of a contrast to the more relaxed vest without a jacket look, but I rather like it.
Friday Rotation: Ivory, Italian Blue, Yellow Paisley, and Brown Leather
Friday-rule results: The outfit prioritizes lightly worn pieces: CL-029 has 1 recorded wear; NT-062, PS-019, TA-007, and FR-025 have 2 each; DS-038 and VWC-016 have 4 each. None is literally within the current 35 least-worn items because that group is presently occupied by zero-wear inventory, but the outfit substantially advances rotation while preserving harmony.
• Vest — VWC-016 (Hockerty): An ivory, custom-MTO LIDO vest in linen, fully lined in white silk and finished with four cream mother-of-pearl buttons. The notched lapels and clean single-breasted design give the summer outfit structure without the weight of a jacket.
• Trousers — SL-005 (Santorelli): Italian-blue textured odd trousers in wool, providing a saturated foundation beneath the ivory vest.
• Shirt — DS-038 (Savile Row Company): A custom-size 16 white cotton-twill shirt with rounded French cuffs and a distinctive 3.25-inch pinhole collar. The formal white ground keeps the yellow paisley tie crisp and gives the collar pin a clean architectural frame.
• Undershirt — US-001 (True Classic): A snug, comfortable white crew-neck undershirt in size Large, made from cotton and polyester. Its minimal drape keeps the shirt front smooth beneath the fitted vest.
• Tie — NT-062 (Brooks Brothers): Brooks Brothers model 346, a 60-inch, 3.75-inch silk tie in yellow with light-blue, navy, and cream-white paisley. With only 2 recorded wears and excellent video compatibility, it is a strong Friday-rotation choice; use a compact Four-in-Hand knot within the pin collar.
• Collar Pin — TA-007 (Savile Row Company): A gold-plated collar pin with distinctive dreidel-shaped ends, made specifically to pass through the shirt’s pinholes. Its gold finish lifts the tie knot and coordinates with the cufflinks and watch accents.
• Cufflinks — CL-029: Brushed-gold circular cufflinks featuring glossy topaz-blue glass half-globes. With only 1 recorded wear, they are the strongest low-use component and connect the blue trousers to the outfit’s gold accents.
• Pocket Square — PS-019 (Mansphil): A compact 9.5-inch plain-blue silk square with only 2 recorded wears. A restrained puff presentation repeats the trousers’ blue without competing with the paisley tie.
• Belt — B-009 (Nordstrom): A size-35 dark-brown leather belt with a silver buckle and substantial collar. Its flat finish provides a practical bridge between the blue trousers, brown shoes, and brown watch strap.
• Footwear — DSh-007 (Allen Edmonds): Chocolate-brown leather Oxfords in size 11 with Goodyear-welted construction and flat dark-brown waxed laces. Their formal shape grounds the colorful upper half while matching the belt and watch leather.
• Socks — DSo-073 (Fort Belvedere): Over-the-calf cotton socks in brown with bright-blue shadow stripes, finished with hand-linked toes. The blue stripe connects to the trousers while the brown ground flows naturally into the Oxfords.
• Dress Watch — W-009 (Mido): A Swiss automatic dress watch with a 40 mm rose-gold-tone case, brown sunburst dial, and brown leather strap. Its warm metals and leather reinforce the belt, shoes, tie, collar pin, and cufflinks.
• Ankle Watch — W-001 (Apple): The 46 mm Apple Watch 10 uses a slate-titanium case and matching integrated band. Its restrained finish keeps the functional watch subordinate to the traditional Mido.
• Business Card Case — BCC-005 (Frank Clegg): A simple bifold card case in bluestone-grained goatskin with two interior pockets. The blue leather supports the trousers and pocket square while remaining slim enough for nearly any pocket.
• Wallet — WL-002 (Fort Belvedere): A full-grain Italian bullhide bifold in antique mahogany and petrol blue. Its mahogany exterior supports the brown-leather story, while the blue detailing echoes the trousers and accessories.
• Wedding Ring — R-001 (Ellie’s Jewelry): A platinum wedding band set with diamonds. It remains the personal constant within the day’s accessory selection.
• Fragrance — FR-025 (Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF Le Parfum): Black pepper and orange blossom settle into amber, bourbon vanilla, patchouli, and sandalwood. With only 2 recorded wears, it supports Friday rotation while complementing the outfit’s warm yellow, ivory, and brown palette.
