Big month. My eldest turns 18 on Wednesday and next week graduates from high school and gets his AA from the integrated community college in his high school program. I am super proud of him and the man he has become.
Preparing for a quick trip to San Fran tomorrow. Look forward to lunching with one of my longest-term clients and friend in the field.
Video call with big client team today, so suited and booted to go with it.
• Suit — SJ-007, SL-016 (Peter Millar): A textured gray wool suit from Peter Millar, cut with clean tailored lines and a subtle linear texture that reads sophisticated on camera. The notched lapels and 2-button single-breasted closure project understated authority—ideal for client video conferences where you need gravitas without flash. Q4-2025 retailored for a perfect fit.
• Shirt — DS-044 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A white Non-Iron Poplin French cuff dress shirt from Charles Tyrwhitt's slim-fit collection. The semi-spread collar (5" spread, 2.8" height) provides perfect framing for a Half-Windsor knot, while the French cuffs demand proper cufflinks—elevating the entire ensemble. Medium opacity ensures no undershirt shadow on camera.
• Undershirt — US-002 (Ralph Lauren Polo): A classic white cotton crew neck undershirt that disappears beneath the opaque white dress shirt. Soft hand, reliable fit, and invisible support for all-day comfort.
• Tie — NT-041 (Fort Belvedere): A true navy grenadine silk tie (Garza Grossa weave) from Fort Belvedere—3-fold, untipped, and hand-finished. The matte weave creates beautiful dimpling and texture that reads exceptionally well on video. A Half-Windsor knot complements the semi-spread collar with clean symmetry. This is the quintessential business formal tie—understated yet unmistakably high quality.
• Vest — VWC-001 (Hugo Boss): The Hugo Boss Wilson CYL Slim Fit vest in black Super 120s wool. Full-lined with a silver rear buckle for proper fit. Black against the gray suit creates elegant contrast while maintaining formal gravitas appropriate for client meetings. The 4-button single-breasted design is timelessly professional.
• Pocket Square — PS-010 (Charles Tyrwhitt): A solid white cotton pocket square (12.5") from Charles Tyrwhitt. Clean, conservative, and razor-sharp against the gray jacket. The classic TV fold reinforces modern business formality without competing with the textured grenadine tie.
• Belt — B-001 (Hanks): A black, fully lined Hanks leather belt with silver buckle and white edge stitching. Minimalist, structured, and perfectly matched to the black dress shoes—while the silver hardware coordinates with the cufflinks, tie bar, and watch.
• Footwear — DSh-004 (Magnanni): Magnanni black cap-toe Oxfords in Blake-stitched corrected leather. Sleek lines with deep shine potential—the definitive choice for business formal occasions. These will be polished and ready for any in-person component of the day.
• Socks — DSo-075 (Fort Belvedere): Over-the-calf midweight Italian compacted cotton socks in gray with blue shadow stripe. The gray echoes the suit while the blue shadow stripe quietly connects to the navy tie. Hand-linked toes and superior stay-up performance ensure all-day comfort—essential for the in-person portion of the day.
• Cufflinks — CL-004 (Montblanc): Montblanc double-sided snow-symbol cufflinks in polished silver with navy blue resin accents. The navy connects to the grenadine tie while the silver matches all other metals in the outfit. A quiet luxury statement—modern, minimal, and perfectly suited for the French cuff dress shirt.
• Tie Bar — TA-011 (Sonia Jewels): A 2" polished sterling silver slide-on tie bar from Sonia Jewels. Clean, minimal, and perfectly coordinated with the belt buckle, cufflinks, and watch case. Positioned at approximately the third button for optimal visual balance on camera.
• Watch — W-008 (Orient): The Orient Bambino Version 7 Small Seconds (RA-AP0104S30B) on the left wrist—a Japanese automatic dress watch with white/silver dial and polished stainless steel case (38.4mm). The classic dress proportions and elegant small seconds subdial project refined professionalism. Apple Watch omitted for right wrist given client video conference nature.
• Pen — P-002 (Montblanc 149): The Montblanc Meisterstück 149 fountain pen in black precious resin with platinum trim and an 18K gold BB nib inked with Royal Blue. A leadership-grade writing instrument that projects precision and seriousness—always ready in the jacket's interior pocket.
• Business Card Case — BCC-001 (Fort Belvedere): A black German aniline leather bifold with silver clasp and green goat velour interior. Structured, elegant, and perfectly aligned with the day's black/silver accessory palette.
• Fragrance — FR-016 (Creed Aventus): The legendary Creed Aventus EDP—fruity, woody, and smoky with its signature pineapple-birch combination. All-season versatility with 8-12 hour longevity. Confident, successful, sophisticated—the perfect scent to project presence during client video calls without any risk of being overpowering through the screen.
Color Story: Monochromatic Grays with Navy Depth & Black Grounding — The gray suit provides a sophisticated neutral foundation, the navy grenadine tie adds richness and depth, the black vest and accessories ground the look in formality, while silver metals unify the entire ensemble.
