Lots of meetings today, with clients, vendors, and internally. Pushing hard before I head out for a lot of summer travel. Today's outfit gives me comfortable flexibility for all of it. It also warms me up for some red, white, and blue honoring in the outfit!
Business Video Conference Ensemble — "Navy & Burgundy Professional"
Date: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Occasion:Client Video Conference with clients, Internal P3 Video Calls (proposal development), VC with financial strategist, and a medical appointment
The Foundation
• Dress Shirt — DS-044 (Charles Tyrwhitt): White non-iron poplin with French cuffs. Semi-spread collar with 5" spread delivers the perfect frame for today's tie knot. Formality score 5 — boardroom ready.
• Undershirt — US-002 (Ralph Lauren Polo): White crew neck cotton. The classic invisible layer that keeps the dress shirt pristine.
• Slacks — SL-012 (Peter Millar): Italian Blue wool, flat front. Cut to pair seamlessly with the SJ-003 suit jacket — together they form an elegant two-piece ensemble.
The Suiting
• Suit Jacket — SJ-003 (Peter Millar): Italian Blue wool, 2-button, notched lapels, fully lined. The color bridges formal navy toward a more approachable mid-blue that photographs beautifully on video calls.
The Neckwear Story
• Necktie — NT-029 (Fort Belvedere): Burgundy grenadine silk, 3-fold, 3.5" width, self-tipped. The textured grenadine weave adds visual depth without pattern clash. Fort Belvedere's signature construction ensures the knot sits perfectly all day.
• Collar Clip — TA-001 (Fort Belvedere): Double-sided solid brass clamps with platinum finish and high-tension coils. Keeps the collar points crisp and symmetrical — essential for video presence.
• Tie Bar — TA-011 (Sonia Jewels): 2" polished 925 sterling silver slide-on tie bar. Anchors the tie at the proper position between the third and fourth shirt buttons.
The Pocket Square
• Pocket Square — PS-007 (Fort Belvedere): Wool-silk blend, purple with paisley center and border, accented with red, green, blue, and gold. At 14.5", it folds into a proper TV fold or puff. The purple base harmonizes with the burgundy tie while adding controlled pattern interest.
Below the Desk (But Still Matters)
• Belt — B-003 (Nordstrom): Black leather Mercer style with silver buckle, double collar, size 34. While video calls focus above the waist, dressing completely maintains the mental edge.
• Footwear — DSh-004 (Magnanni): Black cap-toe Oxford, Blake-stitched, made in Spain. Corrected leather finish. Fort Belvedere waxed cotton laces in black. Business formal rating 5 — appropriate through board meetings. Comfort score 4 with all-day wearability.
• Socks — DSo-068 (Il Regalo): Over-the-calf burgundy cotton with light herringbone pattern and purple and dark burgundy accents. The burgundy tone echoes the tie, creating color continuity from collar to calf.
The Details That Elevate
• Cufflinks — CL-009 (Fort Belvedere): Sterling silver eagle claw design with onyx ball, double-sided. The black and platinum tones coordinate with the belt buckle and collar clip while adding subtle sophistication at the cuff.
• Pen — P-002 (Montblanc): Meisterstück 149 fountain pen with BB nib in 18K gold. Precious resin body with platinum trim. The flagship Montblanc — filled with Royal Blue ink. For signing documents with gravitas.
• Ring — R-001 (Ellie's Jewelry): Platinum wedding ring with diamonds. The constant.
The Timepieces
• Left Wrist — W-010 (Orient): Bambino Version 8 Weekly Calendar (RA-AK0705R30B). Japanese automatic with in-house F6T22 movement. 40.5mm polished stainless steel case with striking red sunburst dial, applied indices, day-week complication. Dark brown leather strap. The warm red dial creates an unexpected but harmonious accent against the navy suiting.
• Ankle — W-001 (Apple): Apple Watch 10 in Titanium Slate with integrated band. Health monitoring without visible tech on the wrist during professional meetings. The best of both worlds.
The Carry
• Business Card Carrier — BCC-003 (Montblanc): Black smooth leather, two-sided with zippered center pocket, silver hardware. 5.3" × 3.3". Business formal ready for any in-person exchange.
The Signature
• Fragrance — FR-016 (Creed): Aventus Eau de Parfum. The legendary "king of fragrances" — top notes of pineapple, bergamot, and blackcurrant; heart of birch, patchouli, and jasmine; base of musk, oakmoss, and ambergris. 8-12 hour longevity. All-season versatility makes this the ultimate power fragrance for client-facing days.
Color Story
Primary Palette: Italian Blue (suit), White (shirt), Burgundy (tie, socks)
Accent Tones: Purple & red (pocket square), Platinum/Silver (collar clip, tie bar, cufflinks, belt buckle)
Unexpected Element: Red dial watch — adds warmth and personality without formality compromise. It thinks it is unexpected because I changed away from a green-faced watch...
Style Notes
This ensemble prioritizes video conference presence while maintaining full professional readiness for any in-person moment. The burgundy grenadine tie against the Italian blue suit creates the classic red-blue contrast that reads powerfully on camera. The Fort Belvedere accessories — collar clip, tie, and cufflinks — share a design DNA that unifies the look without matching too deliberately.
The Orient Bambino's red sunburst dial is the conversation piece — proof that sartorial confidence extends to unexpected color choices executed with intention.
