Oh my feet . . .
I have had a nice pair of shoes and boots for the last 33 years. Two pairs of each, one pair black and one pair brown. Spit polished to a brilliant shine, lovingly maintained, I have resoled all of them multiple times. But the leather has gotten to the point were my shoe repair guy Gustavo, who has repaired and resoled all of them finally told me that it is going to cost more to replace parts of leather and resole them than it will to replace them. Gustavo also told me that while he knows I am currently working, he also knows I am close to retirement. He suggested maybe I not invest so much for my next pair.
Brothers, I am looking for some good work shoes, comfortable to wear, business casual in appearance oh, and did I mention comfort? I prefer a leather shoe but I think brush shine will be good enough. I have been getting resoled every ten years or so, but I don’t think I will be working that long so I Allen Edmonds or Amberjack shoes are out of the running. What are your suggestions and why?
