Fedora Recommendations

Hi all. I want to take a fedora with me on a Mediterranean trip next month. We will be undertaking walking tours over several days and I am sure the hat will help.

I have never worn hats (other than the omnipresent baseball cap), but have tried on and lined fedoras over the years.

I have two questions: are there recommendations for the type of hat for more casual outfits (brand, colors, materials, etc.)? Also, are there any concerns about going secondhand? Normally, I like to try out a new item via a secondhand option and then know what I like when buying a new item. However, if a new fedora is not super expensive or there are more concerns over a used hat, then I will go that route.
