I have noticed a trend going on lately that I feel I need to make you aware of, in case you weren’t.
With the raise of AI, cheeky customers can alter the product images to make the look damaged.
As a shop owner you need to be vigilant about this. In my 1.5 years of selling, I have dealt with a few shady customers trying to make false claims.
As AI struggles to replicate text or be consistent, you can do the following: ask the customer to send multiple images of the damage from different angles or you can ask them to send a photo of the damage with the shipping label in the same frame.
If you offer returns, never refund until you received the return; it is Etsy’s policy. Most will turn cold feet and never respond back.
You risk a bad review but they can leave it either way if they have bad intentions.
As it happened to me recently, she refused to cooperate by sending me the proof and left a 1 star review w/o context instead, just because 🤷🏻♂️ Build a strong customer service to have a comfortable cushion for these kind of situations.
