One of the BEST lessons you will learn as a runner?
Running a marathon after not following an adequate plan
I say "adequate" because it doesn't have to be perfect
You just need adequate time, volume, and progression
Now, when I posted about this on ye olde Instagram?
Someone responded with
"Chat GPT"
And I agreed
Look, there is no smoke and mirrors here
AI can write you an adequate marathon plan
Will it get you around the race?
Yes, probably
Can it improve your understanding and application?
No, it can't
There is another missing piece as well
Self motivation
See, a coach cannot motivate you
They can only help you find your own motivation
AI certainly can't motivate you
And unless you know what to put into it?
You won't get the desired result out
So the "secret sauce" to a successful marathon?
Experience and knowledge of systems/resources
That's what 12 years and 16 marathons have given me
And because all of those races came after the age of 35?
You have to keep learning and adjusting as you go
So, you don't need to make too many mistakes yourself
The best way to learn is to learn from other peoples
That's the fast track
