Today I was reviewing a file where the notary didn't have the witnesses sign one of the documents that required them.
When I followed up, the notary explained that our instructions only mention the Mortgage and Warranty Deed.
That's true... but they also include this sentence:
"For any other document requiring witnesses, follow the same procedure."
Sometimes the documents themselves give us the best clues.
If a document has witness signature lines and your witnesses are already sitting at the table, it's worth to have them sign.
