INTRO
Hi - full disclosure that I haven't started the program and cannot start for a month or so....now some backstory as to why. I'm 56F in the US, have been a national and international-level competitive athlete my entire life (freestyle skier, rower, cyclist) and have been through the wringer with various sports injuries, surgeries and recoveries. This year I was in a freak accident whereby my two large Golden Retrievers took me out from behind. My lower leg and ankle were shattered in the process and I had significant hardware put in my body to piece me back together - but then I got an infection and had a second (somewhat premature) surgery to remove said hardware. This process has resulted in nearly 5 months of TOTAL bedrest - I have NEVER been this immobile before but it has been essential in order to regain walking/function again. I am now one week from resuming PT in a boot to gradually introduce weight-bearing and movement. While I have recovered from injuries and surgeries many times before, this length of time and level of sedentary/immobility have been horrible and I have lost significant muscle and function. I am scared to death of resuming activity in part because I know I can NOT just simply pick up where I left off with my prior training regimen. When I saw the Move Again program, I figured it was likely the best starting block for me...so here I am. Again, it will be likely a month before I can start but I signed up when I saw it so that I know I have a place to start.
