WHAT’S YOUR COACHING STYLE WHEN YOUR KID COMPETES?
My son is competing today, and it made me curious. Are you the calm parent who barely says anything? The technical coach calling out every detail? The loud motivational corner? Or are you more nervous than your kid and trying your best not to show it? 😂 If your kid competes, what’s your coaching style from the sidelines?
WHAT DOES A SMART RETURN TO TRAINING LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
Today I returned to the mats, but kept it to controlled drilling with someone I trust. No hard rounds. No testing myself. Just enough movement to reconnect with the work and leave with something still in the tank. When you’re returning from an injury or time away, are you good at easing back in, or does being on the mats make you want to do too much too soon?

HOW DOES MISSING A CLASS AFFECT YOU?
Are you bummed out? Do you get FOMO thinking about the rounds you’re missing? Or do you make the most of the day by working on the other inputs you control, so you can come back stronger for the next one? When you miss a class, can you enjoy the time away, or does part of you still feel like you should be on the mats?
DOES BJJ TAKE ALL YOUR ENERGY?
What other forms of activity exist in your life outside of jiu-jitsu? Other sports? Strength training? Hiking or walking? Activities with the kids? Or does BJJ take everything you have and leave nothing for anything else? 😂 What else keeps you active outside of the mats?
