What would your #1 training partner say is your biggest weakness? 👇
Not what you think. Not what your coach thinks. What would the person who rolls with you the most say? Mine is TBD. I have to ask and report back. 😅 What's yours?

@Claudia Smithson 😂 "Claudia can't drill" is exactly the kind of self-awareness we're looking for. "Brian trains too early" sounds more like a complaint than a scouting report. 🤣

@Vincent Chan 😂 Right there with you. Years of working on takedowns and somehow I'm still sitting down.
How Hard Do You Fight the Tap? 👇
You made a mistake. Now someone's got a submission locked in. Do you: A) Tap early, no ego, live to roll another day B) Fight it a little, see if there's an escape C) Full survival mode, refuse to go out easy D) Tap late and immediately blame the mat, the gi, the humidity 😂 Where do you land, and has that changed with age?

@Vincent Chan 😂 Black belt is where you realize tapping to a choke isn't weakness. It's just respecting tomorrow morning.

@Claudia Smithson 😂 The fact that you slipped "sometimes C to impress coach" in there after leading with A & B is exactly why I don't fully trust this answer.
Guard Pull vs Takedown
Twenty-two-year-old me: shoot every time. Master-athlete me: suddenly the guard pull is looking very wise and very healthy for my joints. 😂 Has this changed for you over the years, or are you loyal to one?

@Babak Rafat 😂 So you train takedowns all week and then pull guard the second it counts. The most honest answer in the thread.

@Babak Rafat HAHA Another honest answer! 🤪
Back From Vegas… and Back to Routines
Just got back from Master Worlds. Didn't go the way I planned, managing a back issue going in, but I competed, learned a ton, and walked away with exactly what I needed. Now I'm back home, and it's that time of year, kids back in school, schedules flipping, everyone recalibrating. September always shakes up training for a lot of us. How's the back-to-school season affecting your BJJ? More consistent, less consistent, or just different?

@Josh Wang 😂 A GIF instead of words. The blue belt is evolving.

@Vincent Chan 😂 The busiest man in jiu-jitsu finally gets a break and immediately doesn't know how to sit still. Use it, brother, that stillness is where the body actually catches up.
Congrats and thank you
Just a grateful post after this weekend in Vegas at the IBJJF. Thank you to Brian to have dealt with my nine sense stories and keeping me focus, showing me that fuels matter. Thank you to all for your contributions here AND Congrats to Brian and Josh on their win, leading by example is a skill not everyone master and you are both great leaders. Happy to be well surrounded.

This means a lot, thank you. And let's be clear about who the story really is this weekend: THREE fights and silver at Master Worlds. 🥈 That's not luck, that's the work showing up when it counted. I'm genuinely proud of you. Grateful to be surrounded by people like you, Josh, Vince, Kevin, and everyone here who shows up, competes, supports each other, and keeps coming back. That's the whole point of this thing. Now go enjoy it, you earned every bit of it. 👊🥈
