🇺🇸 English Expressions: Feeling Groggy 😴
Hey everyone! 👋 Today’s expression is “feeling groggy.” 👉 It means feeling weak, tired, dizzy, or not fully awake, especially after sleep, illness, or a shock. It’s that foggy, slow feeling when your brain isn’t working at 100%. Origin: The word comes from 18th-century British slang. “Grog” was a diluted alcoholic drink given to sailors. After drinking it, they often felt sluggish or dazed — hence “groggy.” 🍹 Examples: • I feel groggy this morning — I didn’t sleep well. 🛏️ • He was still groggy after waking up from a nap. 😴 • The medicine made her feel groggy. 💊 • I’m always groggy before my first coffee. ☕ • After that long flight, I felt completely groggy. ✈️ • He looked groggy after working all night. 💻 Now it’s your turn! 💬 Drop your own sentence using “groggy” below 👇 WE LEARN FROM EACH OTHER!
