Hengaw – Thursday, August 20, 2026 Iranian authorities executed Donya Mohammadi, a 20-year-old Kurdish woman from Eyvan-e Gharb, in Ilam Central Prison. She was 18 when arrested. According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, her execution was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Hengaw sources said Mohammadi was arrested two years ago for killing her cousin, who had sought to marry her, by poisoning him with aluminum phosphide, commonly known as rice tablets. The judiciary sentenced her to qisas, or retributive execution. Neither Iran’s official media nor judiciary-affiliated institutions have announced her execution.
