I was asked this question and I want to explain why I said Panama was a bad idea. The entire region has stated to turn on the Gringos. Americans are doing the same as Britts in Spain. They are all moving to the same town/towns and not learning the language. This causes issues with the natives as it raises the value of the homes in the area, as well as all of the services and other commodities. As such the old warm welcome has started to chill out. And for a political reason the Chinese have started to buy up properties in Panama. So unless you are a fan of the CCP, look elsewhere.
