The Iranian National Football Team experienced its Golden Age under the Pahlavi Dynasty and the Imperial Government of that time. During this period, led by coaches such as Heshmat Mohajerani, Iran won the AFC Asian Cup three consecutive times—in 1968, 1972, and 1976—and qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 1978.
