Iran's Next Leader: Reza Pahlavi or an IRGC Puppet?
Who will be the next leader in Iran? There are three potential scenarios following the death of Ali Khamenei. Scenario one involves President Trump accepting Mojtaba Khamenei as supreme leader, which would be an undeniable defeat for military operations. Scenario two involves the Islamic Republic picking a leader to surrender to the United States. This is unimaginable because the IRGC would lose its entire base of support and legitimacy by bowing to the killers Ali Khamenei. Scenario three is Prince Reza Pahlavi leading a transitional government. This is the only stable option to prevent a weakened but highly radicalized Islamic Republic from causing further chaos.
The IRGC picking Mojtaba Khamenei signals maximum resistance, not surrender. If the Islamic Republic attempts to bend the knee to President Trump and Israel, their entire system will fracture. The regime relies entirely on projecting an anti-Western and anti-Israeli image to maintain its remaining supporters. Any new leader approved by the United States would face massive internal infighting, defections, and ultimate collapse from within. Leaving the corpse of the Islamic Republic in place only radicalizes it further. Total regime change is the only strategic path forward.
