Mental background tasks - psycho cybernetics
Try this before you hit publish on your next campaign or landing page. (Or when dealing with a huge decision) Go to sleep. 💤💤💤 Literally just stick the idea in the back of your mind and just sleep. Example: I spent a couple of days working on a new home page…. But went to sleep before hitting publish. I purposely wanted to keep an open loop just in case a better idea came to me. I woke up with a little voice saying… “you have a visual platform, but you’re not showing visuals enough”… And that voice was right. That voice sent sent me down a rabbit hole that resulted in a fresh idea that I haven’t tried before. It might suck, but it’s better than what we had before. The mind has a funny way of working on things in the background. I call these 'mental background tasks'... There’s a whole book about it. psycho cybernetics… worth a read.

QuinStreet Acquires homeBuddy for $115M+ (What this means for us)
Just wanted to share this for those of you who missed it: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20251203862027/en/QuinStreet-Announces-Agreement-to-Acquire-HomeBuddy According to what I read, HomeBuddy was acquired for $115M cash at closing plus another $75M in post-closing payments. They were doing roughly $141M in revenue. Sure, there are deeper details behind the scenes, but that’s not the point. The real story is what this means for the everyday lead generator. The barrier to building a HomeBuddy-style business (in any vertical) is dropping fast. With all of the tools and tech out there. 1-5 person teams can build a business at this scale and I'm sure we'll see more small teams getting exits like this in the near future.

Vision voodoo stuff
Last week, I took a vacation. (Or maybe I should say my wife made me take one...) But here’s what a "vacation" usually looks like for me: - 4:30am – 6:30am: Work on the business, make sure things are still moving - 6:30am – 8:00am: Hit the beach alone while everyone is asleep and think - 8:00/8:30am – 10:00pm: Pour every ounce of energy into my kids until we all crash from exhaustion Rinse and repeat until it’s time to head home. That 6:30–8:00am window is everything. Sometimes I walk for miles along the empty beach, listening to the waves crash. Other times I just stand at the edge of the ocean and think. And in those moments, I’ve made some of my biggest life and business decisions. In fact it was bout 10 months ago, I stood alone on the beach early one morning... just me, the birds, and the rolling waves. That morning, I let myself dream. Not just a few months ahead… but a year, five years out. Who I wanted to become. What I wanted to build. When I left the beach, I held onto that vision. I anchored into it, first thing in the morning, last thing before bed. Adjusting course when needed, but always pulling toward that future version of the life I want to live. And slowly, things started to click. - We rebranded to LeadCapture.io - I left my job and went all-in - We raised some money - We built some cool features All of it driven by the vision that started on that beach. Now, it hasn’t all been smooth. I’ve failed. A lot. I’ve fallen flat on my face more times than I can count over the past 10 months. But what keeps me going is the vision. It's the glue when things feel like they might fall apart. Here’s the crazy part: most of it didn’t come from some detailed, step-by-step plan. But when you have a clear vision and revisit it daily, reality starts to bend in your favor.I’ve seen it happen enough that I’ve started to question the nature of reality itself. So I’ll leave you with this: If you think vision is fluffy, wishy-washy business voodoo... think again. Vision has been game-changing for me, it’s my compass through uncertainty of business and life.
