Here we go…
Hello Flutarians 👋 This is my first post. I was a professional flutist in NYC until I was 27 then I walked away from my flute, my career and NY to travel in my van and never went back. Now settled in Baja Mexico with a new career a husband and a happy life I’m finally ready to heal my relationship with my flute and begin again. And honestly? I’m terrified and sad and I don’t wanna. lol but I do and it’s gonna be okay and I will. I am doing the mini improv challenge and Vic suggested I make 3 30 second videos on different instruments. I made the penny whistle one and then took out my flute played one noted and burst into tears. Had a long cathartic chat with my husband got up and went back in to finish the flute and piano videos. I like how I did it. Next time I don’t wanna cry so much. I included the first try at the flute one because I have a feeling some of you can relate. I want Vic to know I’m grateful to him for stewarding me through this part of my story. Because it’s a tough one 💜

Improv in the Park
One of the assignments Vic gave me for my lessons, is to play improv and include one of the hymns I am working on, in a public location where people can hear me. I went to a city park down the street and played. There were some people out and they heard me:) I like that I did it! I like that I incorporated It Is Well and had some ebb and flow. Next time, I would like to put my diva hat on and play with more dynamics and emotions. I felt a bit uncomfortable, but it is good exposure therapy:)

Let the Light Shine Through with Jess
"Let the light shine through" is just the title that came to me last night when uploading this clip from jamming with @Jessica Minahan! This song doesn't have a title yet, but I thought that was good enough for now. She thanked me for getting her on the piano! She's not only a flutist who's improving her improvising, but a skilled pianist too. Listen to her go! The audio quality's nowhere near perfect and the song's nowhere near complete but I wanted to share with you this moment because I thought it was beautiful nevertheless. I feel like it has a swimming, underwater quality. What do you think?
Playing for my neighbor’s horse:)
Here is an improv song I played for my neighbor’s horse. Just for the fun of it:) I played for him before and he ran away. So I decided to play low notes to keep it calm. You can hear my footsteps as I walked close to him and walked back. This is some of the fun we can have with improv. Haha 😂

My favorite to complete the Mini Improv
I chose to an improv on the ballad in backing tracks. I believe it had more than the I and V chords. I was in that mood and that melody just came to me. I went over the 30seconds. Loved the melody and feeling and drums Specially need to work how to end it. Slightly out of tune at times I will do more of this. I enjoyed the mini peov. 30 second was a challenge on how to end.
