I am in DC helping my daughter and her family and had the opportunity to do some more exposure therapy on the mall of the Capitol with the Washington Monument in the background on one of the videos and the Capitol Building in the other video. My grandson was sweet to video it for me. I haven’t played for a week due to travel and being here, and I didn’t have time to warm up before I played. I appreciate Vic preparing me for moments like this in my lessons. I liked that I went into some hymns and I like that I did it with people walking by. It was fun. I would have improved in confidence and taking more time.

Has anyone tried improv against any traditional Irish or Scottish tunes? I do this with the cello sometimes but haven't tried it on flute. Curious if anyone's found any tunes that sound particularly nice on flute.

This was the warmup! Today part of my day included reviewing videos from my recent trip to Kansas City, MI where I got to improvise with several musicians including Jen Armstrong aka Vegan Queen V. You may have seen my campfire video with her playing her song Beautiful, Powerful, Free. I'll attach it here too. Today I found it and listened to her studio recording of it. Naturally it was a little different than the campfire version! Here I got to "ride out" the ending. I noticed her recording was at a faster speed than we were playing around the fire, and I wanted to try it out and see how it felt. At first I started sitting close to the mic, but then it felt better to move so I stood up and walked a bit around my small studio! I haven't listened to it yet. Want to listen with me and start noticing things you liked (and might want to do more of) and things you might do differently?
