Today was the quietest U11 home game I've ever watched. It was busy and competitive alright and with 3 opposition coaches cheering lads very well and parents supporting. But our sideline and one coach on site was completely quiet. I could feel that gap and difference so much. And it looked like it showed up in our team performance, as lads were playing well but something was clearly missing and looked like support and lead in this game. I suggested Jonas to take the lead and initiative and support the team as much as he can. You can follow the game well from your gk position, you have better and bigger picture and organising defence , and gk voice and support can make a huge difference. It so important for a goalkeeper to follow the game, be attentive and mindful, help the team , apart from saves and take the lead if needed.
Jonas took it on board and cheered lads very well, it was his voice and support heard most game and 3 opposition coaches and opposition parents. Despise 6-1 loss he learnt this lesson today and also to get up after each goal, stand strong, and take loss with dignity. Great that every game teaches them different things, small steps at a time.
How did your games go this weekend?
