NEW J4K 3G GRIPCORE - THOUGHTS ?
Guys, thoughts on the new J4K 3G Gripcore. I have not changed too much from the 3G Techno's from last season, as they were such a popular glove We changed the back hand design adding more protection against the hard 3g turf surfaces when landing and getting up - there is also a larger punching zone... The palm is the same - as this had amazing feedback - so no point changing. We also changed the glove backhand fabric for a more breathable material - while still trying to make sure this glove is the most durable glove on the market for artificial and hard/dry surfaces. While importantly, keeping the grip on the palm just as good as our other J4K palms.

Wearable devices
Does anyone wear a device to track stats during a match?

I had one years ago that was an adidas complement to some predator boots (lethal zones), but unfortunately adidas abandoned that app and hardware and now it is useless… but it measured speed, distance, shot power… it was great and not invasive (it was under insole in a hole)

Should youth goalkeepers play out from the back?
This question, must be one of the biggest and most discussed questions in youth football today. In short……Yes!. The game has evolved to the point where tactically it’s a preference for most if not all teams. My opinion and one I teach all ages of goalkeepers is, “playing out from the back is a choice, NOT a strategy!!” Ill explain………. I believe the aim of youth football is player development rather than short term results. Teaching goalkeepers to play out from the back helps them become more complete footballers by developing their technical ability, decision making, composure under pressure, and tactical awareness. However, this approach should not become a rigid rule. Goalkeepers also need to learn when to play short and when to play longer. My arguments for….. It develops better footballers - Improves first touch and passing with both feet. - Increases confidence when receiving the ball under pressure. - Encourages good scanning and awareness before receiving. - Builds composure in possession. It improves decision making - Goalkeepers learn to recognise pressing triggers. - They begin to identify when to play short, switch play, or go long. - Encourages problem-solving rather than simply following instructions. It reflects the modern game - Today's goalkeepers are expected to act as an additional outfield player during build-up. - Distribution is now a key performance indicator at elite level. It supports team development - Playing out from the back helps the whole team improve movement, communication, and positioning. - It encourages players to receive the ball under pressure and make better decisions. This is lovely but it comes with problems There is an increased risk of mistakes - Young goalkeepers will lose possession at times. - Errors can lead directly to goals, which may affect confidence if not managed positively. Gk’s will feel pressure from results - Parents and coaches may become frustrated when mistakes occur. - There can be a temptation to abandon development in favour of simply kicking long to win matches.

Spot on with your conclusions. My son’s team went through the exact same struggle this past year. Our club actually mandates building from the back in youth football, so I totally agree that this is a team strategy issue, not just a goalkeeper problem. From my point of view, the real issue was that the team was expected to execute a style on matchdays that wasn't being properly drilled in training. You can't demand something from the boys if you haven't prepared them for it first, and it was the first year in football for some kids. We have a coaching change this upcoming season, and we expect the new staff to improve this aspect. Looking at it from the GK side, this also was my son’s first year under the bar. It was incredibly frustrating for all the players early on - and for parents too - to concede goals just because they were forced to play short before the team was ready. But credit to him and the squad—they’ve improved tons by themselves. He’s now able to read the game and choose whether to go long or play it short, which is always the goal. He still makes mistakes, of course, but at least he knows he has the autonomy to read the play and try to make the best decision at any given moment.
What is with Tiktok?
Obviously a football agent has reached out through Tiktok and can offer Xavier a trial at Norwish (yes he typed it like that) in a couple of weeks, all I have to do is pay €1000 then he will get the letter sorted. Apparently €1000 isn't that much when he signs his million pound pro contract. I don't think he appreciated me putting a large 😂 emoji, he asked what I thought, it would be free for him to be the agent 🤔 well yes actually, if you're that good then you get paid after he signs the contract 🤭😂😂😂 Kirsty

This is a community supported by j4sports so think about if it is ok to post topics like this here... (unless you ask for advantages about j4k gloves instead of other big brand gloves...)
