We use them & it gets messages across, without giving the game away.
I'm an active parent of two Gk's (& an F.A coach - but not for them) & we use key
words, that can help to call, on occasion.
'Neutral' is one I've mentioned on a previous post.
The rest are;
No, wait a minute - we might end up playing you & you'd now know...!
Might be worth having your own codes.
Keep it a shhh (secret!)
