Challenge day 1: "A new perspective on recovery"
This is a perspective I've had when I became a dad, and I think will resonate with the founders in here who are also parents.
Why do we drop off our little kids in daycare?
It's not because we don't love them or because we don't want to spend time with them.
It's because we want to get some work done without any distractions.
We don't feel guilty about it, except for maybe those couple of times your child starts to cry when you leave.
But so many of us struggle to "switch off" when the workday ends and you get home to your family.
We're thinking about the to-do's for tomorrow, problems that need to be solved, that annoying client, ...
The business keeps running in the back of your mind and it prevents you from being present with your partner and kids. At this point your business becomes a distraction.
And it's hard, because as founders we see our business as our baby as well.
So maybe it's time, when the workday ends and you arrive home, to drop off your business in a mental "night care".
You know that it isn't going to go anywhere overnight and all the things you're thinking about will still be there in the morning.
You're giving yourself permission to be present at home, with the people that matter most.
And to rest and recover, so you can tackle tomorrow with fresh energy.
Without feeling guilty.
