There are so many things in the dog training world you might hear about for many years but never try. One of these for me was the lead pressure training. I ignored it for years, then when I started doing it I got hooked and it became a major part of my toolkit.
More recently I started experimenting with tethering. This is a strategy for dogs that struggle to settle in the house. As a young working dog, Lupe fits into that category. It's extremely simple.
You take the bed and use a lead to tie the dog to something nearby so they are restricted to the area of the bed. Start simple, maybe have them tethered for 15 minutes whilst you watch some TV nearby. Then you begin to build this up.
Eventually they understand that once they're tethered it is time to relax and they will build their skill of relaxing inside of the house. With time the tether will no longer be required.
I have to say I have really found this to be such a helpful tool for so many dogs recently so I thought I'd share it here and see if anyone else has had their own experiences.
