Off The Catch Skills
I just read through and watched the off the catch options in the technical skills curriculum, you can watch here, just scroll to the off the catch folder: https://www.skool.com/dannycooperbasketball/classroom/67ab26b6
What I noticed is that while it’s important for players to have the ability to have great footwork, dribble moves, etc… the off the catch options are a very practical way for players to implement and get better almost immediately. Since defenders usually do NOT close out well or on balance - it’s a huge advantage to be able to attack it with a .5 second decision (stampede catch is like -0.5 lol). Players who might not necessarily have a great handle or shiftiness can use these options to still be super effective and it mainly comes down to just reading how the defender closes out. Not to boast, but I was elite at playing off the catch in HS and college - it was my bread and butter.
