This morning, a creator in a very similar niche to mine announced to his 50,000 subscriber list that he’s indefinitely pausing his newsletter.
It feels like there could be a real opportunity here to attract some of his audience over to my list but I’m not quite sure the best way to approach it.
Has anyone here struck deals in similar situations? i.e. bought, rented, or partnered with someone else's dormant list? I’ve heard the term “list splintering” used for situations like this, though I’m not 100% sure what that is.
I could reach out to him and propose something like, “What if I take over your list for 6 months and we split any profits?”. But part of me would rather focus on growing my list long-term and moving subs from his list to mine if possible.
The good news is I already have a relationship with this guy. He knows who I am and we’ve had a few friendly exchanges.
Curious to hear if anyone’s navigated something like this or has ideas for angles I might not have thought of. All thoughts gratefully received!
