Hi all, for Tip Tuesday, I want to share a little about a book I'm reading and how I use Microsoft 365 Loop to implement the lessons to improve productivity.
The book is called Building a Second Brain by Tiago Forte.
The problem: Many of us have so many tasks to keep track of for work and in our personal life. Try to remember it all or writing notes on random sticky notes (guilty) causes our brains to constantly keep spinning in the background trying not to forget. This is exhausting for your brain and impairs your productivity when you cannot find those random notes.
The solution: Create a digital space to capture all your ideas, thoughts, tasks, etc. Once you get things out of your head and into a place you consistently use, it is amazing how much brain power and energy it frees up. You will also start seeing patterns and ideas form in different ways.
I use Microsoft Loop to build my digital brain. Loop is a collaboration tool that you can use to create pages, sub pages, capture links, dump screenshots, and more. The thing like about it for work specifically is I can create containers inside a page and share just that one part with others while keeping other stuff private.
My first page in loop is called brain dump. This is where I quickly jot down ideas and thoughts during the day so that my ADHD brain can get back on task without feeling like I need to task switch or forget.
Some stuff stays in the brain dump as unstructured thoughts. Others get moved to the appropriate page. For example, Niki mentioned the other day that she needed a way to speak to Skool to reduce typing. I suggested using the dictate function in Word then copy/paste the info into Skool.
Then I thought, that would make a great tip of the week video. So in the brain dump it went. Then when I was in organizing phase, the video went on a list of videos ideas that I pull from to create content.
How does this relate to my Skool?
I help people with productivity, organizing data, and optimizing business processes. Yes my tools are Microsoft but much of this can be tool agnostic.
Use your second brain to accomplish more at work in the same 8 hour day and fell less stressed about it.
