Cotton on Caydo test
I have several cones of crafting cotton. I usually crochet a potholders and dish cloths, and sometimes small dish towels with the cone yarn. I decided to play around and use the Caydo iCord machine to see if it would work. Starting out, I did the usual few turns by hand, and then turn the machine on the first speed. It immediately turned into a giant knot. So I worked about an inch and a half by hand cranking. And it went well when I turned the machine on to the lowest speed. After about 6 or 7 inches of cord was done, I increased the speed and it became knotted again. I restarted and found I have to do at least 1 inch of cord by hand cranking before turning it on to the lowest speed. Increasing the speed just went badly. Keeping it on slow I was able to produce a cord about 18 inches long before I turned it off and stopped the test. Overall, I can use the yarn in the Caydo, but cannot make a “speed cord”. That’s fine by me! So, if I keep the machine on the slowest setting, and keep the yarn tension slightly more than the guide offers by holding the yarn lightly, I can get a very nice cord made.
