HOW DID YOU START IN REAL ESTATE?
People tend to share the glossy stories, but sharing the hard knocks is almost more valuable. Give us a quick version of how you got your first transaction.
I’ll go first……
My dad is not the type to acknowledge if there is anything wrong. Hopelessly optimistic, when he casually mentioned the word foreclosure, I knew it must be pretty bad. I suggested maybe I could take a look at that letter they sent, he agreed.
Turns out it was a whole book of papers written in legalese. The gist of it was, pay $20k by the first of the month or the house is going to auction. After much ado involving an attorney friend, his sister having to yell some sense into him and what can only be described as the grace of the Lord, the documents were in place. 4pm on the 31st, I stepped into the County Recorders and filed them.
Fast forward to recently, I watched one of Pace’s webinars and learned that there is a name for what I did and that is Subject To.
