Michael Malul + Gents Scents
I recently got in the discovery set of the Gents Scent and Michael Malul collab. I’ve sprayed each one on my hand over the past couple of days and here are my initial thoughts and rankings.
  1. South Slope: the best of the set. A nice fresh citrus and woody scent. The safest of the bunch and probably the most mass appealing.
  2. Terra Nova: a very good fragrance it’s sweet with a hint of spice and aromatic woods. A good daily wear I think can be worn all year.
  3. Edgewater: the peppermint and bergamot are a nice combination in the open followed by a very creamy coconut and a burst of tonka bean and vanilla. Good for spring days and summer nights.
  4. West Loop: probably the sweetest of the bunch with a good almond note. Definitely more suited for winter as the sweetness can overpower in the summer.
  5. Jet Black Enigma: my least favorite of the group. Not bad but I’m not to sure how I feel about the cinnamon and pepper in the opening. Another fall/winter frag.
No full wearing on any of them yet and I’ll probably keep the winter ones away until I can get a real feel during cooler weather. I imagine my opinions could change once a full wearing is in.
Overall I’m impressed with the line. Though the only full bottle worthy ones to me would be South Slope, Terra Nova and Edgewater.
