We’re talking about the importance of having a solid routine this week as we approach a new season, but the fact is that it’s incredibly difficult to establish a routine when you’re doing things that are outside of your capacity.
“You can only master something at the level of your capacity for it.”
That’s why it’s important to get back to your foundational basics if you’ve been in what you consider an “off” season for the last couple of months. “Off” seasons vary for everyone—they look different for all of us—so it’s important to consider what your foundational basics are. It’s important to consider your capacity.
There’s no need to jump into everything out there when you’ve been slacking on the basics. In fact, I encourage you to consider one thing you can do this week. What’s one thing you have the capacity for right now? Once you decide on what that is, add it into your schedule at a frequency that makes the most sense for you. Next week, you may be ready to tackle something new. This is how you build a solid routine, friends.
Routines often fail because we try “everything” at once. We quickly realize it’s too much, and we give up altogether. Slowly building your routine allows you to exactly pinpoint “when it becomes too much” and tweak your routine as needed. 💯
