Discipline is a Skill
✅ Do you consider yourself to be disciplined or not (generally speaking)? Now that you know it’s mostly a learned skill, do you feel more hopeful about becoming more disciplined? Share with us below!
Good morning, friends! It’s been a big week. Not only because we’ve been learning, but we’ve been learning about a word that seems scary for some—discipline.
I often find that many people don’t consider themselves disciplined. They don’t identify with it, and with that kind of thinking, they won’t ever be able to!
You see, discipline isn’t something people are born with. It’s learned. Research shows that while there may be some innate predispositions influenced by genetics, the evidence overwhelmingly shows that discipline is developed, strengthened, and improved through practice, habits, and environmental factors.
This is good news, friends! This means you aren’t hopeless when it comes to being disciplined—even if it feels like a foreign concept to you right now. Obviously, you must put in the work, but that goes with anything in life, and especially those things worth having. 💯
