Alice’s Story: From 1 Pushup to Confidence
In light of our Confidence Challenge this month, I wanted to share a client story about confidence! Alice came to me feeling overwhelmed, 200 lbs overweight, stressed, exhausted, and convinced she had tried everything. What she didn’t realize was that her real struggle wasn’t with weight, it was with self-esteem. She didn’t believe in herself, didn’t feel worthy of health, and had forgotten what it felt like to show up for herself. So, instead of strict diets or hour-long workouts, we started with something small, just one pushup a day. At first, she thought it was ridiculous. But after a week, she realized it was the first time in decades she had made a promise to herself and actually kept it. That tiny win rekindled a spark of pride. For the first time in years, she felt confident. From there, her confidence snowballed. 1 pushup became 5, then 10, then walks, workouts, and healthier choices. But it wasn’t about the pushups or the weight she eventually lost. It was about rediscovering her belief in herself. Alice’s journey shows us something powerful: confidence isn’t built in big leaps, it’s built in small wins. One tiny action, done consistently, can light a fire inside you that changes everything. The moral? You’re closer to confidence than you think. Sometimes all it takes is one pushup.
W: Finally Updated my LinkedIN
Shoutout to job security (I love all I do especially helping run this community) but I realized I sold myself short on a major accomplishment by not recognizing it because I didn't feel like I needed to for external validation. I happened to be on LinkedIn for a project and now the whole world can see that I'm CJ Evans, M.A. (even though I have been since March). Let my lesson to you be to never sell yourself short on anything you're proud of: the more you recognize where your actions have taken, the more likely you are to feel validated and keep taking action. I was right, I didn't need external validation but the internal validation feels incredible
Ws from this week
Something I talked about @Cody Isabel this week was taking time for yourself and taking advantage of a WFH schedule. Worked hard on Wednesday and got to take most of Thursday off which was so refreshing. Other Ws: 1. filming a reaction video (they're so fun and never feel like work) 2. Being able to create extra content and bring my ideas to life 3. Seeing so much family from the holiday and visits to KC Heart and mind are both full 😊
I Completed My First MURPH 💪🏻
This weekend I did my first ever MURPH at my CrossFit gym! For those who don’t know, this is a workout that people across the US do on Memorial Day to honor Lieutenant Murphy, who died serving the country years ago. The MURPH is a workout that he did every Wednesday. It’s a 1 mile run, followed by 100 pull ups, 200 pushups, 300 air squats and then another mile run to finish it out! This was the first one I’d ever done, so I was proud of myself of accomplishing something that sounded nearly impossible to me a month ago when I first committed to doing it! I truly believe testing what you’re truly capable of in every single area of your life, especially physically is one of the best confidence boosters there is. Drop something challenging you’ve done recently below! Keep crushing things this week 🔥
