I will be coming for my 3 day boot camp on the 28-30 July, if anyone one else here is coming, l hope to meet you there Iโ€™m looking forward this new chapter and l will be putting in as much effort to build this thing up, all the best to everyone and hope to work with some of you soonโ€ฆ.
When you look at a property deal, do you focus more on rental yield or longโ€‘term capital growth and why?
For us, both rental yield and longโ€‘term capital growth matter but each supports a different part of the investment journey. Weโ€™ve learned that the strongest portfolios donโ€™t rely on one or the other. We balance both. Yield keeps the portfolio alive. Growth builds the wealth. Our strategy always comes back to the goals weโ€™re working toward: - If we want income now, we prioritise yield. - If we want wealth later, we prioritise growth. - If we want both, we target hybrid areas that deliver solid rent with steady appreciation. Itโ€™s never about choosing sides itโ€™s about building a portfolio that performs today and compounds tomorrow for the Howell's.
One thing I've realised is that trying to build a property portfolio without steady income can be really stressful.
When every deposit, refurb, or unexpected expense depends on your next payday, it can make you feel like you're always playing catch-up. I've started to see why so many experienced investors talk about having more than one income stream. It's not just about earning more money, it's about giving yourself the breathing room to make better decisions and not feel pressured to jump into every deal. Whether that's a business, serviced accommodation, deal sourcing, or something completely different, having money coming in consistently makes the journey feel a lot more sustainable. I'm curious... For those of you who are building your portfolio, are you relying on one income, or have you found other ways to bring in regular monthly cash flow? I'd genuinely love to hear what's worked for you.
