What is a hole in sailing?
No it is not what you pore all your money into. I am referencing a hole in the wind. Imaging you are sailing along and the wind lightens up and you stop only to see other boats skirt your position and sail off. All have heard about the eye of a storm where the wind goes calm. This is the same principal only on a smaller scale. Wind in pressure zones rotate around its centre. This is why you get lifts and nocks. Think of why it is said to tack on a nock. You tack away from the centre hole in the wind. You often can not see the hole so observe the wind direction. This is harder when wind is light but more devastating when you fall into one.

Summer adventure
Summer is here, and what are your plans for your enjoyment and setting up summer adventures? Are you venturing out on a lake or out on coastal waters? Going into faraway places and anchoring out for a day, a week, or even a month? What are your plans? Drop a note and let us know what adventures are ahead of you.
Pre departure check
Do you have a pre departure check routine? You should go over your boat to make sure all systems are in working order. Your saftey as well as your crews may be at stake. This is one of the greatest down fall for most skippers. Most assume that all systems are functioning well because they worked the last time out. You should build a binder of check lists for all your systems and equipment on board. ✅ Systems builds confidence! ✅ Systems creates a safer boat Let me know your safety procedures?

First Sailing boat
I'm looking to buy my first boat, and I want something that's safe and comfortable. My long-term goal is to sail from Costa Rica to New Zealand, traveling down the coast of South America, then crossing to the Caribbean before eventually making my way to New Zealand.
